ACCOUNTABLE & TRANSPARENT GOVERNANCE AT WORK. The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), a global monitor of the governance of oil, gas and extractive industries, has been in Guyana for the past several days meeting with the Government, State Agencies and multi-stakeholder organizations regarding Guyana’s oil and gas and extractive sectors. This is yet another demonstration of our Government’s willing embrace of international scrutiny and global reporting mechanisms. This position of our Government manifests itself in every important national endeavour. This morning, I had the privilege of being a member of our Government’s parliamentary team that engaged and interacted with the EITI delegation for several hours at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre.
