Gov’t reviewing AMLCFT Bill- AG Williams meets with FIU head

THE Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (Amendment) Bill (AMLCFT) must be passed to prevent Guyana from being blacklisted, Attorney General (AG) and Minister of Legal Affairs Basil Williams told the media yesterday, as he met for the first time with Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Paul Geer, to deal with the Bill.Also attending the meeting at the Legal Affairs Ministry were FIU Legal Advisor, Alicia Williams, and a member of the unit, Sasha Mahadeo.
New Attorney General meets staff
The newly appointed Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Basil Williams has formally met with the staff of the Legal Ministry urging them to work as professionals.
Williams was sworn in as the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs on Wednesday at the Ministry of the Presidency, by President David Granger.
During the meeting, Williams reiterated the commitment of the President, who had opined that his administration would be working in the interest all Guyanese.
